“The Successful Notary” 8/06 Newsletter
by Sharon Hassler, President, Go Get Experts
Been busy? We were hearing from Notaries across the nation that spring was slow but the summer months picked up. Now that mortgage interest rates have decreased slightly, Realtors and Escrow Officers are telling us they’re starting to see home sales inch up again, so we head into fall with a positive and hopeful outlook for signing agents.

CAUGHT WITH EGG ON OUR FACE
New GoGetNotary Member, Julie McHam in Hemet, California, asked what “Field Services” referred to under the Services section on our web page template. Frankly, we weren’t sure. It was a category suggested to us by a notary when we were originally creating our template with the explanation that it meant a notary could handle fingerprinting in the field. I had to admit I wasn’t confident of that description. Julie took the initiative to contact the National Notary Association, and here’s their definition:
“Field Services are companies that deal with a wide variety of different products and services, not just Notary services. Their services range from surveys to repair inspections to locks change to vendor locations (for used washers and dryers, for example) to field contacts. It is the field contact service that relates to Notaries Public and Notary Signing Agents. For example, when a lender or escrow company is experiencing difficulty in locating a Notary Signing Agent in a remote area, they may contact a Field Service company to locate a Notary Signing Agent for them. Thus, a Field Service locates a Notary Signing Agent (NSA) and puts the NSA in contact with the lender or escrow company.”
This doesn’t sound like something that belongs on our web page template, does it? Please give us your feedback on this. Is this the recognized definition in your region? Should we remove the Field Services category from the web page template?
