Become a Notary in Iowa: An Iowa Notary Public is commissioned by the Secretary of State for a 3-year term for an Iowa resident or a 1-year term for a non-resident. An application fee is required.
Iowa Requirements:
- You must be at least 18 years of age.
- You must be an Iowa resident or a resident of a bordering state with your place of business in Iowa.
- You may not qualify if you have ever had your notary commission revoked.
- You may not qualify if you are disqualifed from voting due to being adjudged mentally incompetent to vote or convicted of a felony.
