Notary Work at Lock Up Facilities

Postby lkthornton on Wed Dec 05, 2007 6:52 pm

What do I charge in addition to the notarizations? The facility is within my driving range. How do you base that rate? Do you factor in wait time, and the hassle of being frisked and going through security screening?

Are county jails different than prisons in their security measures - as far as getting in to the facility ?

What do I take with me and what do I leave in the car?

I know the family does the hiring as I had a lady ask me about my fees because her son is locked up and needs paperwork notarized. She is going to call me in a day or two to work out the fees but I'm not sure what to charge.

I appreciate all insight. :P

Of the 42 people that have read my earlier post and request for insight, no one has done notary work at jails? Gee, thanks for nothing!! :o

Gosh lkthorton:

I hope you got the information you were needing. I know how it feels when you want to know something and can't find an answer. :| Also, if you did end up going, I hope it went well. And sorry this is such a late post. I just decided on pursuing this type of career and just found this site the other day.

Hope you have a great day. :P
